Basically, this guy has devised a way to use a veritcal axis wind turbine to power a process that collects water from ambient humidity. If that's the case then these off-the-grid devices could be dropped anywhere to produce drinking water.
Since this article is just an opinion piece, I tried to find more information. However, it seems there is no web site associated with the company or the inventor. I did find this somewhat related site, however: Airwater.com.au. The products produced by this company accumulate water from ambient humidity but use diesel generators and so forth for power.
